SNAPSHOTS FROM MY CITY

Minneapolis is a truly unique city.  An extremely active city, with great people who have great vivacity for life.  Every winter I am amazed by the way people still get out and about to enjoy what Minneapolis has to offer, despite the frigid temperatures.

Last night was the first night of the Lakes City Loppet for those of you who don't know what a Loppet is, its like a marathon for cross-country skiers.  An artist was commissioned to make 10,000 luminaries out of ice. It was simply amazing and so incredibly beautiful,  I couldn't resist sharing...

I took this photo at 10:30 p.m., can you believe all the people!?

We have 5 lakes in the city of Minneapolis, which are all recreational, and the luminaries were placed on my favorite of the lakes, Lake of the Isles... the luminaries lined the shoreline, and at each little corner of the lake was an "exhibit" as well as fireplaces for warming up.

My absolute favorite was this little island with over 200 luminaries in the trees and these displays.

I have no idea how i missed this before - but so fun that we are both Minneapolis ladies! I am with you at being amazed that people go back out to the tundra every year - but at least there are people that make it beautiful to help us forget about the cold!
Much love,
B

How stunning! I admire you guys for getting out in the cold! It's been hovering around 30 degrees or less in Texas recently. I've not enjoyed stepping foot outside, and feel like I always need to be drinking coffee or hot chocolate to warm up! :)
