Last week Julia over at Pawleys Island Posh posted pictures of her dining room, and the plans she had to transform it over the next six weeks. A few other bloggers are joining her too. After our nightmare renovation, I wasn't exactly eager to jump back on that horse - but time has passed, and things need finishing. I sat over here for a whole week inspired by Julia to make moves, but fretting about sharing what I like to call my "half-baked" house. Putting my vulnerability fears aside, I've decided to share my dining room with you...
Its a major pass through in the house. When we renovated, we made the floorplan open, so the dining room flows directly and openly between the kitchen and the living room. There needs to be some kind of wow factor, but it also needs to blend well.
I love, love, love these ginger jars - but, this isn't their forever home. Where their forever home is, I have no clue.
The buffet, not my fave piece. But, its functional and will work until that dollar tree in my backyard start producing. Functional = an orchid growhouse, and a "bar tray" aka, really only stocked with things to make a margarita.
The bottom is just a hot mess. Please pretend you didn't see it. All of the things in here are things I like and use day to day - they just aren't things that need to be displayed like this.
Here is more what I have in mind. The windows need some paint after being replaced. And it needs a few things to warm it up. Not to mention - that "buffet" needs a total overhaul...
