TRIBAL PREP

Lately I have been obsessing over what lets call a style, not as much a trend. When I think of my favorite designers, sure Miles Redd and Ryan Korban come to mind - but two of my true absolute faves are Anna Spiro and Jamie Meares. I think they nail this whole "Tribal Prep" thing - and I just don't think you can call it bohemian because when was seersucker ever boho? Not once, not never in my book. So rather than giving you the usual "grand scheme" photos, I stuck to these little vignettes. Anna and Jamie are vignette masters and I love to really study these small snippets...

I love your e board selections. How fun to integrate this look now with all that is available. I remember alot of it from the 70's growing up but love the earthy cozy feel mixed with more sophisticated things.
Have a great day!

This is absolutely my style in a nut shell. I like to borrow the clever terminology coined by Karly at Design Crisis by describing my aesthetic as "acid WASP." Your grandmother's house on LSD...it just makes so much sense in my head. Love all your picks!

These are so beautiful! I do love the tribal prints, but sometimes it's a little overkill, and too much Boho to the point where I feel like I might be trippin' out which I've never done before, and never will. On the other hand I've been to some homes that are more on the preppy side, and I've been to some larger homes as well, and I often get a lonely, unfriendly vibe. Have you ever been to a home where it's cold and damp, from the moment you walk in the door you are ready to leave. It feels un-lived in, like a museum. I think the tribal prints can be so pretty if it's not too trippy, they tend to make me a little dizzy and sometimes I even get a little nauseated. These don't have that effect on me, their more subtle and pleasant. I love how it's toned down and I love the mix of the tribal prints and the classier prints. The tribal prints brighten things up more and makes it seem so warm and friendly, but posh at the same time. It's very inspiring. I just love those chairs and pillows in picture 3.

The colorful-prepster way is a lovely technique to decorate a home. It's classy but colorful...perfection! :) It inspires me the way I get inspired to do my art!
