IDAHO WEDDING: A VIDEO

A few weeks ago you may remember that I travelled to Idaho for my cousins wedding, which I imagined would be something like this. It was, but even better. We drove two hours outside of Boise to the prairies of southern Idaho and it was absolutely incredible. I promised I would share about the trip - and I'm feeling a little vulnerable here. My family are really the stars of this video since I took all the video- but regardless, this is part of my life, and it makes me nervous to put this out there- but here it goes..

NAVY THE NEW NEUTRAL?

My family thinks I am my grandmother reincarnate. thats a-ok by moi because I love my blue walls, and I know she did too. And ginger jars. and trellis pattern. and chandeliers. and the list goes on. Thats why I'm pretty excited that navy just might be the new neutral.

Someday when this sofa in navy velvet finds its way into my living room with some fab pillows on it - I'll be happy to show you all the glory that are my nearly navy walls, but until the room looks something more like this...

how about we just admire these...

pretty much everything Jamie Meares touches turns to gold, and this little house is no exception, go over and see it if you want to smile...

REFRESHING WITH WATERMELON

Watermelon seems like the ultimate natural summer treat. It looks even more appetizing when muddled into these mouthwatering drinks. Refreshing, sweet, and light - you can drink them by day, or by night...

3 cups cubed, chilled watermelon, one cup coconut water, squeeze of fresh lime, sprig of mint, ice if needed: blend all ingredients together until smooth. serve chilled, 90 calories

1 cup cubed, chilled seedless watermelon plus a small wedge for garnish, 4 large mint leaves, 1/2 a lime, 1 tablespoon superfine sugar, 2 ounces white rum, 1/2 cup of ice cubes: In a large, heavy glass combine mint, lime, and sugar. Using a muddler, mash together mint and lime until sugar dissolves. Add watermelon and muddle until broken down, stir in rum and icecubes and garnish with a watermelon slice.

FLAMINGO FLING

I've been seeing flamingos popping up all over lately. The bright pop of pink and playful nature is infectious and makes me want to add this flamingo mingle print in particular somewhere in my house! If not a print - than certainly a hint of that perfect flamingo pink!

BACK TO BLACK

Over the weekend, Marc and I painted quite a few doors around the house. At about 4 in the afternoon on Sunday I told him that I think the interior doors would look particularly great painted high-gloss black.

The man is a saint. His answer was "sure, if you think thats what would look the best".

Now the question is - is that what I think would look the best? We have lots of white woodwork. Like, really pretty wide trim around pretty much everything. Of course in my head I'm over here thinking its going to turn out like some Miles Redd high gloss masterpiece. So, lets just dream that it will, ok?

FANCY FREE [FORM]

This summer I have been clipping things out of my garden instead of buying flowers, and filling small cups, or unintended items to use as vases. The free form feels, well, freeing. I think these sweet little arrangements are a little more inviting - and I like that it doesn't take a half and hour of clipping and arranging to make something so pretty...

OBSESSION WITH OTOMI

I love that this print has been popping up all over this spring and summer. Maybe its because it makes me nostalgic for the summer cabin that my grandmother so lovingly decorated with pieces from her travels through Mexico. But, it too could be the fact that it's something so different, so vibrant, and so colorful...

my favorite photo of them all, I love the way Anna Spiro has mixed Otomi with Ikat and a few beachy accessories.

I'll admit - its probably not the easiest pattern to just throw into the mix - but you can wear it, or order some fabric and give it a try...

BACK FROM NO MANS LAND

I promise I didn't disappear. My mom laughed at me when I asked about wifi and cell service on the ranch we were staying at in Idaho, I didn't believe her. And guess what? She was SO right. But- it was pretty amazing, I'm looking forward to sharing that little corner of the world here one day soon. For now- I'll leave you with a pretty picture I took from our cabin, and I'll see you here tomorrow morning

ONE ROOM: 6 WEEKS

Last week Julia over at Pawleys Island Posh posted pictures of her dining room, and the plans she had to transform it over the next six weeks. A few other bloggers are joining her too. After our nightmare renovation, I wasn't exactly eager to jump back on that horse - but time has passed, and things need finishing. I sat over here for a whole week inspired by Julia to make moves, but fretting about sharing what I like to call my "half-baked" house. Putting my vulnerability fears aside, I've decided to share my dining room with you...

Its a major pass through in the house. When we renovated, we made the floorplan open, so the dining room flows directly and openly between the kitchen and the living room. There needs to be some kind of wow factor, but it also needs to blend well.

I love, love, love these ginger jars - but, this isn't their forever home. Where their forever home is, I have no clue.

The buffet, not my fave piece.  But, its functional and will work until that dollar tree in my backyard start producing. Functional = an orchid growhouse, and a "bar tray" aka, really only stocked with things to make a margarita.

The bottom is just a hot mess. Please pretend you didn't see it. All of the things in here are things I like and use day to day - they just aren't things that need to be displayed like this.

Here is more what I have in mind. The windows need some paint after being replaced. And it needs a few things to warm it up. Not to mention - that "buffet" needs a total overhaul...

MY FAVORITE MOMENTS: JUNE

I can't believe June has come and gone. Usually its just starting to get perpetually warm here, but June was good to us this year, and the whole month was [mostly] warm and sunny!

1. Last month we celebrated father's day [my favorite one yet]- It was so relaxing and nice to spend quality time with my dad.
2. kollection launched and I have had so much fun fulfilling orders, and handing out a few personalized gifts along the way too :)
3. I had been on the hunt for authentic ginger jars for months - I scored all of these at an estate sale for under $75. A complete steal!
4. Finally, Marc and I love to spend time on our boat, and we have been fortunate enough to do so several times with some of our favorite people.
