DARK-HUED DAYDREAMING

I know... you're probably thinking "It's the middle of summer, and I want to see something bright and cheery" But - I just can't get over these dark-hued spaces this week. There is something glamorous and classic about them that invites your eye to linger a little longer, and maybe if you were there, you might too.

I love the way these light and white beachy trinkets finish off the styling of this bookcase. It feels personal and pretty.

this workspace has been a long time obsession. however, I might change those photos out for something a little more personal, and use some silver-plated frames for a more glamorous effect.

BLACK IN THE BATHROOM

Black... a much debated color to use in any room really. But, an already small space like a bathroom? I think absolutely, yes! Lonny Magazine does too. They featured not one, but two fabulous black bathrooms in their latest issue. Including this one below which has my jaw resting on the floor...

I simply adore the faux croc wallpaper. This next bathroom strikes the perfect balance, and is utterly feminine yet still bold and cozy...

for a little extra glamour... go with high gloss- its showstopping, no?

TIMELESS WITH MR. TOPOL

As much as I love a Palm Beach inspired home, it was refreshing to open up the May House Beautiful and find an elegantly masculine home oozing with soul and personality. Not only was I drooling over each of the spaces, Stan Topol is a charming interior design veteran with smart quips and great advice...

"I don't like Sheetrock, and white walls are sterile. This black patent wallpaper is glamorous and makes the walls disappear." says Stan. Glamorous they certainly are, they also provide a stunning backdrop for the white matted photographs, as well trinkets on the shelves.

Stan's office is truly one of the gems of the house. The light stone floors against the glossy wallpaper and antique furniture really lends itself to a feeling of ease and comfort.

Seemingly a master at accessorizing, Mr. Topol says "My coffee table may look cluttered. But, if you look down on it, you'll see theres plenty of space for your coffee or tea." And- its true. His surfaces are well adorned with things that have defined his life, yet still have great functionality.

WHERE MONEY SLEEPS

... because on Wall Street, Money Never Sleeps.
Stark black and white with gorgeous pops of muted color make this apartment sparkle despite it's density. The textures, the juxtaposing furniture eras... whats not to love?

FLAWLESS FUSION

One is black. One is white. One is classic. One is eclectic.
To me, they have strikingly similar elements...
Elements I am dying to emulate. I just adore the deep dark black and gray for fall. But, with the addition of mercury silver colored (or mirrored)things, animal prints, fur, crisp and classic white touches, and natural touches here and there... there is so much to drool over...

MUTED MADNESS

I think my love of black and white has been pretty professed, but, these muted color palettes are timeless, classic, and have a subtle element of glamour...

The mirror in front of the fireplace is a welcome diversion from the aesthetic that a fireplace usually brings to a room... the lucite tables don't hurt either!

I love the way that there is no seperation in this shelving... it leads to a flawless and lingering look.

the floors... oh the floors...

CURTAIN CALL: BLACK

I have long questioned the presence that a black drapery might bring to a room. I'm fairly certain I've now got the answer: a moody elegance that may be hard to achieve, but totally doable and cool if you can pull it off!

what do you think?

P.S. sorry in advance for the lack of posting today. M and I will be making the trip with my family from Minneapolis to Green Bay, WI to move them into their new town/home for the next few days.
