CABIN FEVER

Today is one of those days where its time for winter to end, the sun to come out, and melt all the snow away. That, or a little getaway would be perfect. Nothing extravagant, just a little place for a few simple pleasures- rest + relaxation.  These would make for the perfect room right now...

and this one, the perfect place to enjoy some great food, and lounge the day away...

SNAPSHOTS FROM EUROPE

Since I was gone for so long, I thought I would share a few photos of what I have been up to...

We started the trip in St. Moritz, Switzerland. Something I love about the Swiss is their sense of tradition, many of which we enjoyed while ringing in the new year with M's family. The sleigh ride was one of my favorites...

I always look forward to eating a few of these delights from Lindt & Sprungli...

Another thing that has a renewed importance to me is meal times. Three a day plus tea in the afternoon. I so enjoyed the time spent during these hours with family and friends over delicious foods...

After two weeks in the mountains, it was so lovely to feel the warm sun, and see a few palm trees in Mallorca...

Finally, M's stepmother and I spent one afternoon in Seville, Spain. What an amazingly historical city. Being the design freak that I am, I loved the intricate detail and attention that was paid to every bit of architecture in the city. This scene is gossip girl-esque, don't you think?

One of my favorite things of any city I've been to, was how almost every street in Seville was lined with orange trees. It was so charming...

Lakeside Getaway

Our best friends are celebrating their wedding anniversary this weekend (congrats R+V!), and we were discussing the difference between a getaway at the beach, and one at the lake. Growing up in Minnesota, our getaways on the weekend were always to our lake cabin, and it got me thinking of how nice a little weekend at the lake might be...

the quiet to enjoy some lovely moments together

a simple little place just for two

fresh eggs and herbs for breakfast...

and the sweet smell of the pines whispering in the background.

Where would you like to getaway this weekend?

Daydream Vacation... Making a Stop In Marakkesh

My next stop would be Marakkesh.  The historic beauty, the pristine scenery, and the quiet wind swaying you in the breeze, delightful!

I would stay here...

I would wear this...

eat, drink and lounge here...

ride a camel to take in the sunset here...

and rest my head here...

A Cozy New Year!

I love the new year, it always feels like the turning over of a new leaf. I am particularly excited about this new year because M and I are moving into a new place! I feel like moving is always somewhat of a fresh start, and I am excited to begin to really define the style that is M and I, rather than a mix of our stuff just coming together. M is tries his very best to give me his honest opinions when it comes to design, and I am totally inspired to create a more masculine and cozy bedroom this time around!

I have begun with some inspiration from his Swiss homeland...

The comforts of something warm, the touch of fur, and the base of neutrals can all be found in a quintessential chalet.

I'm hoping with some black accents to finish the room,  it will come out feelings serene and inviting like these beautiful rooms!

Toutes les Glories de la Paris

85 and SO humid again today, I am dying for a break in this continual weather. Somewhere with picturesque scenes, delicious food and wine, and temperatures to cozy into a coat for has me lost in a daydream... Paris maybe?  The Kiwi Collection is a collection of hotels that have been invited to this exclusive group of 1% of hotels in the world. To each corner of the globe, these hotels are amazing , in fantastic locations, and have interiors to die for. Best of all, they truly have something for every pricepoint. Two great hotels in Paris from the Kiwi Collection are the Hotel Costes, and Hotel Keppler.

Hotel Costes

Located on Rue St. Honor, Costes is in the perfect location. Hotel Costes is so quintessentially Paris. The new "it" hotel of the city, they have since launched their own fragrances and CD's. Its chic yet uber-luxurious. Their outside terrace is relaxing after a long day taking in the sights, and their food delicious!

Hotel Keppler

Located one block off of the Champs Elysee, Hotel Keppler is a sweet little hotel with lots of character. The hotel is very quaint, and the staff ever so friendly. While it does not have all of the amenities of Hotel Costes, its a slightly more budget friendly and a wonderful place to rest your head at night.

Happy End of the Weekend

If you are looking for the perfect weekend getaway,  Palm Beach has the best finds in little nooks and crannies; here are some of the very best.  For all you design lovers out there, Mecox is a must see. It would be so easy to spend all day and decorate a whole house from that place, everything they have feels very "one-of-a-kind", yet the pieces feel down to earth

the trinkets on the shelves give this bookcase new life

There were so many great finds in this store, some of my favorites were this reclaimed
wood table, the white coral mirror on the back wall, and the lanterns which had
leather handles.

Chateau De Puppy

This is about as close as it comes to a Nieman Marcus for dogs.
They have beautiful things, as well as organic dog care products and food.

Pizza Al Fresco

M and I have been on the hunt for a pizza that could live up to the standard of Pizza Al Fresco's pizzas. Despite our search through Europe, we never found one quite this good, their outdoor terrace is so lovely, the people are so charming, food so savory, and experience so relaxing.
