The combination of organic pieces thoughtfully placed against white and stunning blacks/eggplants paired with defiantly glamorous pieces makes this home intriguing and inviting...

HAPPY [COLORFUL] MONDAY!

I am so thrilled for the start of this week. For me, it really marks the beginning of a new year...

First, let me say- welcome. I see so many new faces here, which I am really excited about. For those of you who haven't been here long- I was in Europe the past three weeks with limited internet access [if you are expecting an email from me, I promise it's coming soon!]. I love getting around to all of your blogs, and will be doing so in the coming weeks...

Second- after being away for so long, I definitely missed certain things. With spring around the corner, one of those things is the unabashed use of color, pattern, texture, and overall overlap in interiors that are so unique...

I'm talking pink, yellow, and orange in the same room...

flowers, and more flowers in fabulous, albeit mismatched vases...

bright, brights + whites...

the use of pink- in general

pattern, upon pattern...

and subtle touches of glamour...

BLACK + WHITE BLISS: EVENTS

I have a confession to make, white - I have been cheating on you with black.

For those of you who are new here... my obsession with black and white is endless and the new trend toward classical events with contemporary flair has me singing its praises...

Even better, my cousin J got engaged this week! congrats J+D. 

in the event she solicits my help planning her big day... the gorgeous combination of the standout beauty of these anemonies paired with the sleek black glass would be showstopping...

and the way I see it... these little calligraphic numbers are a must!

SIMPLY SILHOUETTES

I have posted about silhouettes before, but I am still loving them! I've seen lovely groupings of them more and more recently, and I'm inspired all over again...

Their classic lines and shapes are appropriate for really almost anything...

they can make something simple, so very beautiful...

and provide the perfect backdrop for a quirky space...

A BRIGHT BUNGALOW

I love apartment therapy for many reasons, but probably the chief reason being that it's real design. Everyday people creating livable spaces that are testaments to who they are. Take Sonja's Silver Lake, California bungalow for example. Endlessly quirky, full of personal artifacts, pops of trendy patterns, furniture with classic lines.. it comes together stunningly. 

head over heels for this soft houndstooth rug with the ultra fab coffee table.

Its funny the way a few beautiful silhouettes, and some classic books can pair perfectly with a pistol flower vase...

This bungalow is 700 sq feet. I love the see the way that people have utilized these small spaces... in this case a great workspace completes the home.

small kitchens are the perfect place for open shelving - it can make the space feel much bigger. Stylized dishware can make these shelves that much prettier.

BLACK + WHITE BLISS

This amazing NYC apartment by P + T Interiors has stolen my heart. The homeowner's personality is clearly evident in this black and white stunner. The skull and cross bone shades certainly aren't for everyone , but they definitely add character. Those matte black and white walls next to that fabulous wallpaper - perfect!

The way that the designer has juxtaposed classic lines [black white white piping] on classic pieces of furniture with personality and contemporary displays is absolutely flawless...

To me, one of the best elements of this apartment is the absolutely perfect composition of the console tables. I love highly stylized spaces - but these also seem functional.

Mirrors are a fabulous way to create the illusion of space in a smaller room - here is the perfect example with the windows reflecting. And- who knew a fireplace with mirrors vases could look so good...

FLAWLESS FUSION

One is black. One is white. One is classic. One is eclectic. 

To me, they have strikingly similar elements...

Elements I am dying to emulate. I just adore the deep dark black and gray for fall. But, with the addition of mercury silver colored (or mirrored)things, animal prints, fur, crisp and classic white touches, and natural touches here and there... there is so much to drool over...
