A BRIGHT BUNGALOW

I love apartment therapy for many reasons, but probably the chief reason being that it's real design. Everyday people creating livable spaces that are testaments to who they are. Take Sonja's Silver Lake, California bungalow for example. Endlessly quirky, full of personal artifacts, pops of trendy patterns, furniture with classic lines.. it comes together stunningly.

head over heels for this soft houndstooth rug with the ultra fab coffee table.

Its funny the way a few beautiful silhouettes, and some classic books can pair perfectly with a pistol flower vase...

This bungalow is 700 sq feet. I love the see the way that people have utilized these small spaces... in this case a great workspace completes the home.

small kitchens are the perfect place for open shelving - it can make the space feel much bigger. Stylized dishware can make these shelves that much prettier.

A PARISIAN PALETTE

This one room studio in a 1920's landmark building in new york exudes Parisian style...
The whitewashing against those stark black windows, the mix of bold patterns and subtle prints, a few fresh touches and a smattering of personal pieces make this studio lovable

The chandelier acts as a bulletin board holding sketches, letters, and even a hat.
The daybed serves as a sofa and a bed

The old desk houses a collection of candles, paper goods, and enough wine for two!
The "office": a great desk + farmhouse flower vase + oversized mirror + vintage touches = working bliss

The giraffe rug is an unexpected yet beautifully welcome touch.

Orange and Navy: Unexpectedly Classic

Some may feel like Orange and Navy are fall colors, I feel like they are always colors. They combination actually reminds me of a chic east coast beach house, or a easy Miami vacation spot. I think navy and orange with pops of white is unexpected and fresh, with orange giving it that subtle warmth. I'm drooling over this twin bedroom especially...

perfectly unexpected...

rich and luxurious, I could hang out on Kate Walsh's couch all day!

[ via ] casa sugar, shell, I'm not sure where I pulled the twin beds from, do you know?

My Very Own Pair of Stripes

I have been so excited about our new place, and finally some things have gotten together that I can share. My most exciting find for our new place was these chairs. Brace yourselves, I got the set for $140. The guy who sold them to me from Craigslist told me that they were "hand-me-downs" from his parents and that he didn't like the fact that they were pink so he was getting rid of them. Needless to say, I think his parents might kill him. They are BEAUTIFULLY crafted with diamond tufting and nailhead... if you are able to see past the pink velvet, you can see just what a steal they are!

While I love every element of the chair, I wanted something versatile, that I can change from place to place, and a slipcover is perfect for that! I found this awesome seamstress who can sew ANYTHING! ( It is super hard to find someone to do slipcovers, if you want her info, email me) After picking out this bold striped fabric (maybe you remember this weeks earlier obsession with black and white) .. she turned them into this! The perfect dynamic pieces for my new space!

Seeing Stripes

I hope you all had a wonderful long weekend! I'm excited for this week, I can't wait to move! After selling some of our furniture, I have been hunting for some longterm pieces that I love. Well, I found some amazing diamond tufted wingback chairs on craigslist in completely perfect condition. I bought them for a complete steal. While I love the diamond tufting, I'm not so in love with the rose colored velvet upholstery. So, I'm having them slipcovered for the time being. After searching for a standout fabric, I finally settled on a bold, black and white stripe... today... I'm just excited by stripes waiting with anticipation to see my chairs transformed (I will share later this week!)

A Few of My Favorite Things

I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving, and enjoyed the time relaxing and eating delicious food!

Today is my birthday, so I thought it was only proper to share a few of my favorite things...

I am completely obsessed and consumed by Ina Gaartens home in the Hamptons. This open concept kitchen, living, and dining room is exactly the way I like to live. A room where everyone can be together, no matter what they are doing.  The kitchen, however, is the heart of the home. It seems to be the place where everyone gathers when entertaining. There is space for everyone in this kitchen, and plenty of space for me to cook to my hearts content.

Really, there are no words to describe the beautiful scent of a candle from Hotel Costes. It is one that will always remind me of Paris, and always make your home cozy. I promise all of your friends will rave about it. Find one here.

...Speaking of cozy, I love cozy nooks, with perfectly placed and decorated little tables, with lots of trinkets to explore, or fabulous flower arrangements like the one below, by Ken Marten for the Mayfair Hotel in London

A super comfortable but fantastically covered dining chair is not only a statement, but an invitation to linger at the table a little longer.

We all have to do daily tasks, the these products from Mrs. Meyes make each day a little more glamourous, and your house a little more pretty.

and last, but certainly not least, an inspiring place to work, I know, you have probably seen this domino picture a million times, but the combination of soft colors, the feminine accessories, and great gallery wall are show stopping.
